Jeff Clarke grew up in Coquitlam and played his youth soccer with Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club. He was a part of three provincial championships and two national title teams with CMFSC before moving on to play for Simon Fraser University.
He began his pro career in 1996 with the Vancouver 86ers, then went on to play in Europe for a time before returning to North America, spending seven years of his 12-year professional career playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps. A midfielder/defender, Clarke was captain of the ’Caps for five seasons and was a key component in the team winning United Soccer League titles in 2006, when he was playoff MVP, and 2008.
In international play, he was capped 19 times with the Canadian senior men’s team and represented Canada in two FIFA World Cup qualification matches. He was also captain of the Canadian Olympic U23 National Team in CONCACAF qualifying for the 2000 Olympic Summer Games.
Since retiring from playing, He has moved into coaching, and he’s currently the sporting director for Surrey United Soccer Club.
